Hi there.

Welcome to the blog! We are everyday moms like you…who also happen to be some of the Pastors’ wives at Foothills Christian Church in San Diego. We’re following the call to share what the Lord has put on our hearts about motherhood, marriage, homeschool, and faith. We pray you are inspired and filled with His hope as you browse through these pages. Be blessed friends!

This is our family’s typical weekly schedule. Because we homeschool already…not a lot has changed with our schedule recently. And every family’s schedule is going to look different. But there are some ideas in here that might be helpful!

Monday:  We do one lesson of language and one lesson of math from curriculum. The rest of the day is open because it is Mike's day off and we prioritize that family time!

Tuesday- Thursday: We have breakfast, get dressed and groomed, make beds, and I do one load of laundry and dishes and get ready myself, make my bed, etc. School is from around 9 am-2 pm (give or take, depending on work load and the kid’s self-discipline). My kids get a "treat" at the end of the school day for working hard (this is almost always one small candy). We break for recess with a snack for 15-20 minutes around 10/10:30 and I catch up on what I need to. We break for lunch around noon for about 30 minutes. There's some days we are finished with school by this time. I have my kids go outside during these break times as much as possible (weather permitting). We try not to do any non-school screens until I'm preparing dinner or until dark (there's exceptions, of course!). That being said, that leaves 2-4 hours sometimes in the afternoon. I try to do as much self-guided play outside (and in) as possible. I do have fun go-to's like a backyard scavenger hunt, board games, card games, reading together, play-doh, dress up, making forts, themed at home events like "movie theater" and "put on a show"... (my kids play together in the backyard pretty well, because they spend a lot of time together.) We spend family time when dad gets home until around 7:15 and then it is brush teeth, pjs, reading and lights out (kids are in bed at 7:30 and we start this process earlier if we are doing showers...because yeah, we don't do showers every night...ha!).

Friday- One lesson of language, one lesson of math from curriculum. The rest of the day is open to whatever! Normally we do chores, go somewhere, visit with people...(although during this season of COVID-19 quarantine…that’s not happening!).

Saturday- No school work! Screens are more permitted, but still limited. We’ve actually found that is helps the day go smoother if we limit.

Sunday- Church, rest, and family time.

And that’s a wrap!
